i love this comic. makes me want to start introducing myself to people this way! I think people should introduce themselves with a disclaimer: "Hello, my name is Gillian! I do not take compliments well. I don't like gender specific pronouns and I don't know why but I'm really mean to people I really, really like and some sort of twisted defense mechanism." Actually if I got that last one printed up on a t-shirt it would make my life a lot easier.

in the context of the song, i think sufjan is saying he considers things he has done to be mistakes. with his particular delivery though, it has always sounded to me like he's saying "i've thought about doing some wrong things" and i want to be all: let's talk about real mistakes! i am a bad person on non-theoretical levels! etc.
