I saw Agaskado Teliverek at Blindfest '08, they were on the second stage and there were only a dozen of us because the entire rest of the festival was at the other end getting their arms broken while watching Aglio Pressure Camp. (2,700 broken arms -- a new record! The newspaper used the headline "Arm-ageddon" the next day.) We had this huge swath of space all to ourselves, so we went from ordinary rockin'-out to interpretive dance, and the frontman was like, "if there weren't more security guards than audience members, we'd come down there and screw around with you guys." Then they realized there wasn't really anything stopping them, so they came down with their acoustic guitars and we had this big ol' hippie circle jam session. It was absolutely surreal, the bunch of us in this mostly empty field surrounded by two days worth of discarded water bottles and beer cans, playing old Elton John tunes and doing the mambo with fellow 'skado fans we'd just met. Plus, we totally pissed off Mike Brecht when he came out for his set and we completely ignored him. (Dude's a hack anyway, all wannabe Jack Johnson.)

also Green Lantern is incredible, dude can project giant ants to freak out bank robbers if he wants to, way more creative than Superman's "punch everybody" m.o.

Liking old school comics is awesome! Getting a job writing new comics only to turn back the clock and rehash old stories instead of coming up with NEW stuff is lame/Geoff Johns' career.

Fanboys who WANT to go back twenty years think he's awesome, but honestly we can just go read back issues if we want those stories. I buy the new issues for something new, and he has consistently failed to deliver.

I always think it's funny how Willingham got slammed for his run on Robin, but no one says anything about Johns.

That depends on the GL... I have long held that Kyle Rayner has no weakness except his own stupidity.

I believe another GL had a weakness to wood.

Yeah, I think for some God-forsaken reason Alan Scott (the original Green Lantern) has a vulnerability to wood (or at least to).

I did a comic similar to the first one. My comic (by which I mean the whole thing, not just that one image... I don't know how to differentiate the two) isn't very good, though, so it's okay for me to have something like that.

The last one describes almost exactly how I feel about people who protest Scientology. Also it makes me feel less guilty about never protesting anything.

I like the gay one and the protest one. I'd like to see the protest one bigger, perhaps in the form of a movable billboard that can be placed near protests (which are common in my locale).

ahhh, it's like real life.

I've played on the same bill as Agaskado Teliverek (twice) and been released on the same label as Aufgehoben, with two separate bands, both of which also sound like they could have been made up (The Evenings and Lum Col Con Pix). Do I win some kind of prize?

I do sometimes wonder if someone else made up my entire seven-year band career..

The prize you win is that you maybe sold a record since 2000. That is considered a prize in this industry.

Seriously. I hate when people who don't like something have the nerve to say it. And then, and then! They have the audacity to show off their organization skills to arrange for other, like-minded people to join them in the hopes of letting others know that things are no okay for them. Why can't they just bitch and moan to their friends over and over again like the rest of us.

God damn fucking PRICKS

i didn't turn that comic into anything more because it was too simple/preachy. though i honestly believe that pretty usual protesting no longer captures the american mind, and there are a lot more/better/creative ways to express ideas. news coverage i think reflects the average person's sentiment boiling down to "today there was a summit/convention/whatever and of course there were some protesters protesting something yaaaaaawn"

anyway, i have participated in protests in/around chicago over the years and wish there was more of an emphasis on involvement in the community or system that is working badly, wish there was less a culture of protesting as some kind of "end," wish there were less people who wanted to get arrested to prove that the man is keepin' them down, wish people were up-front/self-aware about the futility/inefficiency of public demonstration and the movement of america's "public sphere" away from the square and public spaces toward television, the internet, the media etc etc blah blah, could not synthesize my disparate/conflicting thoughts on the issue into a comic successfully

I agree with more or less everything you said here.

Which is why I rather prefer the typical methods of anarchists, i.e. doing shocking sorts of affairs to catch peoples' attention, breaking things, directly affecting the thing that they like/dislike, etc.
