well it has been too long since i did some limited edition prints. so here are some prints! they will be 8.5 x 11 inches on fancy paper, numbered and signed by me and they will cost $25 which includes shipping. unless you are shipping internationally, then add shipping to your cart at the bottom of this page! just add one shipping even if you order more than one print.

everybody make sure to double-check the address you have got on paypal. i will probably have these up for sale for about a week and then i will close orders and have them printed!

sold out

thank you every body that's all

The Apathy Epidemic is my very favorite of all the comics ever. It sucks that you need money for stuff.

Sometimes it is just confusing as to why someone would waste time commenting that something isn't their favorite.

Sometimes people become irrationally angry at that a waste of fake space.

To explain, I commented because I wanted to apologize, and I wanted to apologize because I truly wish to support an artist who has enriched my life greatly, but that I would not do so, yet again, after being outbid on eBay etc. etc., because none of these comics are the ones that I would like on my wall. And a tacit subtext that if more and different strips were printed, I would pay gladly for those.

The good thing about fake space is that it is never wasted. There is room for everything in fakespace.

Didn't prints used to be $20? Oh man, are you just upping the price because you know they'll sell? I am going to be SO SAD. Unless you're like "No! It's because I'm having everything delivered by weasels because they don't pollute, and they're cute and they're teaching me to speak weasel. But weasel service is exactly $5 more expensive than regular post." Then I'd be all "Oh, John!" *swoon* and wouldn't be sad. And I'd buy one and frame it and hang it next to the last one I bought which is right above my desk [place of honor ohmygosh].

Or maybe I imagined that they were $20. Hrm.

On that note:
"This planet has, or had, a problem, which was this. Most of the people living on it were unhappy for pretty much of the time. Many solutions were suggested for this problem, but most of these were largely concerned with the movements of small, green pieces of paper, which is odd, because on the whole, it wasn't the small, green pieces of paper which were unhappy."

Ah, you might be right.
I don't know... What if he starts doin' his stuff for the money, and loses some of his passion?

I guess I'm just curious if print selling is going to be a regular thing. I think the first batch was because all his stuff broke so he was gettin' some funds to replace it, and the next batch was because it was tax season, and now it just seems like it's "for my... um... income?"

I don't really care either way, and know it's not actually my business at all. I guess it's more that I have an idea of what John is like in my head with his interest in living "As Simply As Possible" (which maybe he just didn't like) and his wacky adventures and not buyin' no houses or nothin'.

Eh, What do I know? I am just not a huge fan of money and what it does to people and what people think it means. That's all, I guess. I'll shut up now.

maybe i should talk more about my life so you guys know what's going on. i'm still living simply with hippies in chicago but i am also trying to up my income enough to have insurance and go to the doctor/dentist for the first time in some years and also replace the eyeglasses i broke last year and all in all i need to make a little more money than i have been to keep goin' so i am trying to be more intentional about my money-making.

Cool! Can I name the ipuppy when you get one? Name it Penny, ok, because that is what I named my dog when I was ten. I named her after Kenneth Ward's dog because I had a big crush on him. He lived two cornfields away and made me creepy crawlers.

Gosh go to the dentist and doctor and get the glasses (oh I sympathize, I stepped on mine two nights ago and couldn't get an appointment until the 21st... ) and yes insurance is a must. No reason you can't be simple AND responsible for your own life.

I salute you.

"guys, someone from the internet just offered to buy me glasses. am i poor?"

wal-mart and costco give eye exams for about 60 bucks probably, and contacts for like 100.

when you get your prescription, go here: http://www.zennioptical.com/cart/home.php?cat=14

they are legitimate, my friend had his glasses done on this site. the catch? they take forever to get there if you don't pay a shit-ton for shipping. you've waited this long, though...

re-read this 7 hours later, why?

i meant contact lens exams are like 100. contacts there are probably like 30 dollars. no one wants to go to wal-mart or costco, but it's the only really affordable thing if you don't have insurance.

I know, "limited edition", but I have to ask: Do you ever re-do these once you print some? Or do you, as a rule, not do that? Cos if you ever do a reprint, "What precautions is your family taking..." would have my vote. That said, I think you probably have or will have done about a zillion other great strips you could print. I hope you DO do some more, though; my wall needs one.

Ouch, I can't believe I missed this one! I'd gladly pay $25 for it! I completely agree ryancmn, reprints would be awesome.
The friendship one has got to be my all time favorite. Here's my interpretation:

At first I thought it was very cynical. I asked my friend what he thought, and his first impression of the meaning of the piece was also, "Ya can't force love". This is because, you could read it as, very second the "hostage" was released from gunpoint, he turned in his "friend" with no hesitation.

But then I read the alt-text and that completely reworked the meaning of the piece for me.

"i was robbed"

He called the police to tell them that he was robbed of friendship, but it wasn't the friend that robbed him, it was death. He could have reported him to police any time before, but it was not until he was gone that he was actually "robbed".

I also like zornrot's (a redditor) interpretation of the gun.

"It's funny because it describes a typical abusive relationship with the visible gun representing the invisible emotional pressure placed on people."

But I disagree that it is for an abusive relationship, and it think it applies to all meaningful relationships. This is because in meaningful relationships, there is always a lot of social pressure, but people continue to love each other despite the pressures. In the last panel, the "hostage" still felt he lost his friend in spite of the all the pressure.

Maybe this is the wrong interpretation and I'm reading too much into it, but I'm gonna stick with it because I like it much more this way.

Also, I just saw a DCFC concert and the theme struck me as very related to their amazing song, "What Sarah Said." The song ends with the haunting yet endearing lyrics, "So who's gonna watch you die?"

The people you put pressure to be there for you. The people you love.

I would dearly love a re-print if you find a viable means of doing it. From what I've seen, I, like most of the commentors, would gladly pay 25 dollars for a copy of the friendship one. Far and away one of my favorites.

i would love to get a "gimme all your friendship" print. it is strikingly similar to the very abusive friendship i have with one of my best friends.

and by "strikingly similar" obviously i mean "not at all similar"

and by "very abusive" obviously i mean "occasionally i am mean"
