saw after last season over the weekend with a group of people. it was intermittently strange/boring/terrifying. the director paid a few theaters outside major cities to show his movie for a week. maybe my favorite part was going into the theater where there were not enough title cards for the signs, so it felt like being directed toward something that did not exist, blank labels with arrows showing you where to go. turned out to be a consistent aesthetic between theater presentation and the film itself. a lot of accidentally disturbing elements, like the noise filter that covered for some of the bad audio equipment but incidentally made some background noise sound like distant growling war machines tearing apart the dead.
