okay so: actually: before i leave i'd like your opinions on some shirt designs i've been working on. that way i got somethin' to think about on the big ol bus trip i'm about to take.

this one is maybe the spiritual successor to the cube shirt? not as simple though. i like the idea of wordless shirt designs where something terrible has happened. can't decide if i should up the terribleness. close-up:

this one i actually did a little "graphic design" on, which is a step up for me. it is also the first one to feature paul. i was thinkin green for a little while.

this is going to go on a tote bag:

because i've wanted it on a tote bag myself for a while.

other merch plans include: a poster/print-type thing, and an actual printed comic book. this stuff will get sorted when i get settled in 'merica.

anyway: would like to hear what you think. for now i am off to get my last birria in mexico and then clean the fridge.

i am pretty in love with the second one, not too crazy about the first. also i think light blue was a good choice over green for the "difficult" shirt.

I agree with everything this person says.

I mean, I like the idea of the first one, wordless tragedy is always wonderful, but it just ain't quite where it needs to be, I fink.

Both shirts are pretty irresistible, but I think the "difficult to be alive" shirt is the irresistibler.

this is possibly intrusive because we don't know each other and I've just been eavesdropping on your comics lately.

I like all three designs, especially the third. can you make that into a shirt too?

for the first, I'm wondering if you could fade the clouds and the ground in the background, with grayer lines rather than such bright white. it'll bring out the action in the foreground more. unless your intention is to give a matter-of-fact one-dimensional "oh." sort of impression.

I think the blue is too neutral for the second shirt and if you go with the green it depends how dark. what I would do is go with a bright color, like yellow, for some cute irony.

yeah, im all for wordless tragedy.
plus.. it looks like the one (on you?) looks really quite dark.. im not sure if it's just the lighting but i prefer that over the green in the image.. much easier to wear.
also. the last one on a tote would sell to almost any art(or architecture, etc.) student.. well the ones with a sense of humour anyway..

I like zoomed out for the first one. It leaves whether or not the guy on the top of the clif witnessed something terrible or participated in it as an exercise for the viewer.

I love me some tote bags and I would totally buy one with the third image.

I am also a little in love with the second shirt.

I had an idea that for the cliff shirt the image shown in is on the back of the shirt and on the front is just a man falling through the sky with a knife sticking out of his chest?

The first one doesn't really come together. It just looks like a bunch of lines until you actually stop and look at it.

The second one is great!

that's why the first one is great! it blends into the shirt instead of just sitting on top of it.

Difficult to be alive is brilliant, would definitely buy. The history of art is also hilarious but probably too plain for me to buy a tote of it.

I think "brief history of art" should be a shirt, not a tote bag. It says, essentially, what most t-shirts with designs on them are trying to say contextually. "Cliff jump" is amazing, and I would wear it all the time. I feel like "difficult to be" is sort of obvious, though, and maybe unnecessary? I wouldn't want to declare that to the world everyday by wearing the shirt for fear that a homeless man with no legs would just punch me in the balls.

while i would not buy a tote bag (need things i can bike with!), i do for sure like the picture

I'd wear the second one if I wasn't such a happy person.
The first shirt differs from the cube in the possibility of violence. The cube was more just, "Tragic things sometimes squish you" whereas this one is much more specific. It isn't as appealing.

i like the first shirt in theory, but in actuality it seems to be playing out a little too angle-y.
love the second, especially in the blue! please keep it in the blue!

incidentally, i ordered the cube shirt about a week and a half ago . . any idea how long it usually takes to receive 'em? i'm in western mass.

Some of what they just said

I have previously made my obnoxious case for a two panel comic on a shirt. I won't recap it other than to say "Yes, I like the third for a shirt very much myself, too." Not sure I need a tote bag in my life.

I also love the idea of "wordless shirt designs where something terrible has happened." I really like that cliff design too; the terribleness seems the right measure of subtle to me, but I'd be curious to see it increased. Also, it seems a trifle elongated on generic AA hipster boy, but I'll attribute that to the processes of prototyping and photoshopping.
